About Amira
I have been teaching for over 18 years and practicing for over 28, leading yoga, Pilates, fitness and yoga based Stress Reduction one-on-one and group classes, formerly based in San Francisco CA.
Yoga, Pilates and fitness practices can lead to incredible transformations, I have seen with the test of time the mind-blowing power of these embodied physical and meditative practices to radically improve the lives of everyone who dives in.
In the 90's at Integral Yoga Institute in San Francisco, I learned the blissful classic practices of postures, seated meditation, breathing practices and deep relaxation - all in a beautiful serene and supportive environment. These essential practices have remained at the heart of everything I teach.
After Integral Yoga, I was drawn to Ashtanga Vinyasa yoga, and began teaching it as a trained and certified practitioner in 2004. I also enjoyed a Pilates practice, becoming a certified teacher in 2008. After experiencing work burnout in 2015 I circled back to my Integral roots to study and practice Stress management, becoming certified in 2015.
Depending on your desired outcomes, you can learn and practice:
Ashtanga Vinyasa - authentic lineage based Primary, and also “Rocket”
Integral Style Hatha and also Integral Yoga based Stress Management
“BASI” Pilates (Body Arts and Sciences International) on mat and equipment
And functional fitness workouts
Being a life long fitness practitioner, growing up around my father’s fitness center (which he owned for 44 years) and later becoming an NASM certified personal trainer in 2009, I'm qualified and passionate about supporting you in fitness practices!
I've completed over 1200 hours of teacher trainings in yoga, Pilates and fitness. Since 2004, I’ve led thousands of group classes, privates, workshops and students primarily in San Francisco, CA.
I appear in the documentary film “Yoga Is” by Suzanne Bryant and am the featured Pilates and Yoga teacher on the video app “Starters.” Also I teach the longest running Ashtanga “Rocket” classes to date, from 2005 - present. Previously this class was held at UCSF Mission Bay.
My goal is to provide a consistent "home" where students and clients can grow and flourish over time. I am inspired when students make breakthroughs and achieve a sense of calm. When I work with more mature students who practice and thrive even into their 70’s and 80’s I am especially inspired. If they can do it, so can you, so can we, so can everyone!
